Napoli have made their first offer for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, as Salvatore Sirigu and Alex Meret are locked down.

The Partenopei need a new goalkeeper now that Pepe Reina has signed for Milan as a free agent.

New Coach Carlo Ancelotti is eager to have someone he already worked with, so Sirigu was considered a strong contender with plenty of Serie A and Champions League experience.

However, Torino are refusing to let the 31-year-old go and have proposed a contract extension.

However, Torino are refusing to let the 31-year-old go and have proposed a contract extension.

Udinese also insisted via director of sport Andrea Carnevale that Meret is “one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe and our plans are to use him as the first choice for next season” after his loan spell at SPAL.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Napoli have made their first formal offer to PSG for Areola and were quoted a €25m price-tag.

The Parisians have already agreed terms with Gianluigi Buffon and it’s unlikely Areola will want to share the gloves.

There is also the possibility of bringing in an experienced older shot-stopper on loan, such as Petr Cech from Arsenal or Sergio Rico from Sevilla.
