Palermo will go to the appeals court – and possibly the criminal courts – after the Lega Serie B rejected their appeal to have the Frosinone result overturned.

The second leg of the play-off final, which saw the Canarini promoted, was marred by crowd trouble and refereeing controversy.

The Rosanero had appealed for their 2-1 loss to be turned into a 3-0 walkover, but the Lega Serie B rejected that and instead imposed a two-game stadium ban on Frosinone.

The Sicilians haven’t accepted the ruling though, and will go the FIGC’s appeals court.

“With reference to official notice number 200 by the Giudice Sportivo, relating to the Frosinone-Palermo game on 16/06/2018, U.S. Città di Palermo announces that a complaint has been filed before the Corte Sportiva di Appello,” a statement confirmed.

“The grounds of the appeal will be formalised tomorrow.

“The club also reserves the right to take any action necessary to protect its rights in all appropriate forums, possibly even criminal.”
