The 27-year-old made just one Serie A appearance for the Giallorossi last season, but impressed during his two seasons on loan at Empoli.

Roma then confirmed that the transfer fee is an initial €9m.

"Bologna will pay an initial fee of €9m for the player – with a further €500,000 in performance-related bonuses potentially payable.

The deal also includes a clause that guarantees AS Roma 25 per cent of any profit over €1m, should the player be sold by Bologna in future."
