Another name on the list of potential Napoli goalkeepers is CSKA Moscow and Russia veteran Igor Akinfeev.
The Partenopei are believed to have narrowed it down to Alphonse Areola of PSG or Udinese’s 21-year-old Alex Meret.
However, President Aurelio De Laurentiis hinted yesterday that there were other names in the running.
According to Il Messaggero newspaper, that includes Akinfeev, the 32-year-old Russia international with 108 senior caps.
His contract with CSKA Moscow is due to expire in June 2019, so he’d be available for a low price.
If Meret is to arrive, then having an experienced old hand to guide him would be ideal.
