WC Player Profile: Wojciech Szczesny

The goalkeeper pushed his way to the starting XI at Juventus and Poland after going from strength to strength, writes Anthony Barbagallo.

Wojciech Szczesny had fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal, but two years on loan at Roma allowed him to rediscover his confidence.

A surprise transfer to Juve followed and he has now replaced Gianluigi Buffon in the first choice gloves - at least for now, as Mattia Perin is eager to take the same path.

Szczesny is in his first ever World Cup for Poland and had difficulties in the other major tournaments, mainly due to injury, while he is desperate to make up for an error against Senegal in the opening game.
