Palermo saw their appeal rejected, so Frosinone’s contentious promotion to Serie A will stand.
The Rosanero had taken legal action after a controversial second leg to the Serie B promotion play-off final at the Stadio Stirpe.
Several incidents occurred, including a referee awarding a penalty and then changing his mind (without access to VAR), Frosinone players caught on camera throwing extra footballs on to the pitch during the final minutes to break up Palermo moves and a pitch invasion before the final whistle.
The Federal Court of Appeal has ruled today that Palermo’s appeal is rejected.
Frosinone’s punishment for the pitch invasion still stands, which is €25,000 in fines and having to play the first two home games of the Serie A season behind closed doors.
