Greek international Marios Oikonomou has officially left Bologna to join AEK Athens. “I am very happy to be back in Greece.”
The defender has been in Italy for six seasons, playing for Cagliari, SPAL, Bari and Bologna.
He completed the transfer back to his homeland today, having spent the last six months on loan at Bari.
Oikonomou made the move to AEK Athens on loan with option to buy at the end of the season.
“I am very happy to be back in Greece and to play with AEK, which is the champion,” he told the official club website.
“I want to play at a high level and the prospect of being in the Champions League cannot help but excite me. I’m looking forward to starting work with my new teammates and am not afraid of the competition.”
