It is reported that Manchester United are continuing to pursue the services of Milan captain Leonardo Bonucci.

The former Juventus centre-back only joined the Rossoneri last summer and helped Gennaro Gattuso’s team finish sixth in Serie A and reach the final of the Coppa Italia.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan’s two-year expulsion from European competition for breaching Financial Fair Play rules could cause the 31-year-old to want to move elsewhere.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan’s two-year expulsion from European competition for breaching Financial Fair Play rules could cause the 31-year-old to want to move elsewhere.

According to the Italian daily, Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho is monitoring the situation closely and could soon make a formal offer for the player.

Milan, currently at the centre of an ownership saga, were further frustrated by United earlier in the week.

Midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who had been linked with a move to the San Siro, instead opted to sign a new contract to remain with the Red Devils until 2020.
