Cristiano Ronaldo will be suspended for Portugal’s UEFA Nations League clash with Italy in September – assuming he doesn’t retire from international duty anyway.
The Ballon d’Or winner was booked in last night’s World Cup Round of 16 defeat to Uruguay.
He would’ve been suspended for the quarter-final, but their elimination means he’ll sit out the ban in Portugal’s next competitive match.
That will be against Italy in Lisbon on September 10 for the new UEFA Nations League tournament.
They are in the same group as Poland, who crashed out in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.
This might all be irrelevant, as there are rumours Cristiano Ronaldo could retire from international duty.
