Coach Leonardo Semplici has officially extended his contract with SPAL to June 2020 with an option for another year. “I’m very proud.”
The tactician has been at the club since December 2014 and his current deal had been due to expire in June 2019.
Semplici took SPAL to promotion from Lega Pro in 2015-16, then straight up to Serie A for their first top flight campaign in 50 years.
“I am happy to have extended this rapport with SPAL, as it gives consistency to our work and makes me very proud,” he told the club website.
“I hope we can build on what we’ve created and improve it, as we have everything it takes to continue together and do even better.
“It’s a wonderful and at the same time very difficult league, so in pre-season we’ll work to ensure the team has the right fitness levels and mentality to play a certain type of football from the very start of the campaign.
“I thank the fans and ask them to stand by us during the good and less good moments, which no doubt there will be over the course of a top flight season.”
