The story first emerged in Tuttosport on Saturday night to little fanfare, but has gained significant traction in Spain.

Now Ronaldo’s homeland of Portugal are also giving genuine credence to the reports.

This evening, O Jogo claims with some confidence that Cristiano Ronaldo has accepted a move to Juventus and his rapport with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has broken down definitively.

On top of that, Mediaset Premium suggest agent Jorge Mendes got a special clause in Ronaldo’s contract allowing him to leave for €100m – but it is valid only for clubs in Italy.

The idea of Juve signing CR7 might seem implausible, but the reported €30m salary could be paid largely by sponsors and income from shirt sales.
