Antonio Conte took Chelsea training again this morning, as Maurizio Sarri reportedly delivers an ultimatum to Napoli.
The Blues are trying to appoint the former Partenopei Coach as Conte’s replacement, but have been unable to agree a compensation package.
This morning the former Italy CT once again took training, despite reports that a deal for Sarri was close. However, the players were given the afternoon off.
According to SportMediaset, Sarri has told Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis that if he doesn’t release him from his contract, he’ll serve out the final two years.
That would leave the Partenopei paying both him and Carlo Ancelotti, though the former Coach is on a salary of just over €1m per season, so it’s not clear how much leverage he has.
Jorginho is expected to sign for Chelsea today, but it appears that a deal for Sarri is not as close as first thought.
