Duvan Zapata admits “at the start I wasn’t very convinced” to swap Sampdoria for Atalanta.
The Colombian striker has joined the Orobici on a two-year loan with an option to buy, and scored on his debut yesterday.
“I’m happy to be here in Bergamo,” Zapata told Sky.
“The club has made an important investment and now it’s up to me. This is a good team that has been doing well for two years.
“At the start I wasn’t very convinced, then I saw how important the President and the Coach [Gian Piero Gasperini] were making me.
“Sampdoria didn’t hinder my exit, I thought this was an important opportunity for me. I want to improve and score more than last year.
“Why wasn’t I convinced? My intention wasn’t to leave Samp, I was happy in my Blucerchiato family.”
