The Nerazzurri were beaten 2-0 by Swiss side FC Sion in this evening’s friendly match, their second outing of the summer.

“Our opponents deservedly won, as we saw from the start that they were moving quicker and stronger than us,” the Coach told Inter TV.

“There was only one way to make up for the difference in fitness levels and that was keeping the ball. We didn’t manage it, so we used up our energy quicker and then struggled towards the end.

“We had two tough fitness sessions and today were consequently not very sharp. The differences were evident from the start.”

The next friendly match will be against Spalletti’s old club Zenit St Petersburg in Pisa on Saturday.

“It’ll be a pleasure to meet with Zenit again, a club that I am very fond of. It’ll also be a useful game to give a sense of consistency to our work.

“We’ll be a little more careful, spreading out the fitness training schedule between tomorrow and the day after, so we’ll be a little fresher on Saturday.”
