Vrsaljko also has knowledge of Italian football, having previously played for Sassuolo.

Gazzetta Sportiva reports that the player is keen to return to Italy, and is pushing for a move to Inter.

There is an offer on the table of a €6m loan with a €25m option to buy, which is effectively an obligation as the Beneamata wouldn’t spend that much on the loan just to have Vrsaljko for a year.

Atleti haven’t yet responded as they want to sell the defender outright, but the fact he wants to return to Serie A could force their hand.
