It’s reported Milan and Juventus have agreed in principle to swap Leonardo Bonucci with Mattia Caldara, with Gonzalo Higuain to move on loan.

Bonucci wants to return to Turin just 12 months after leaving to join the Rossoneri, but the stumbling block was the Old Lady’s desire to keep Caldara.

Now though Sky is reporting that the basis of an agreement has been found for what will be a straight swap deal between the clubs.

Now though Sky is reporting that the basis of an agreement has been found for what will be a straight swap deal between the clubs.

That doesn't mean a deal is done, but the two parties have agreed to value their respective players at the same price.

In addition, Gonzalo Higuain will be sent on an expensive loan – around €15m – to the Diavolo, though it’s not clear if there will be an option or obligation to buy.

One stumbling block could be Pipita's wages, as he doesn't want to leave the Bianconeri and won't take a pay cut to do so.

It's unlikely the Bianconeri will want to pay any of his salary while he's at San Siro, so Milan will have to pay at least €7.5m per season.

Alfredo Pedulla confirms that Milan want Higuain on a €15m loan, but says much will depend on Chelsea, who will meet Juve tomorrow.

The Italian champions would clearly prefer to sell their striker outright to the Blues, but they must get Alvaro Morata off the books first.
