Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti claims the Nerazzurri would be ‘on the same level as Juventus’ if they sign Arturo Vidal.
Vidal is reportedly on the verge of a €20m move to Inter, despite winning four Scudetti with Juve, and Berti – who won a Serie A title and two UEFA Cups with the Beneamata between 1988 and 1998 – felt the 31-year-old would be a ‘super’ signing.
“With Vidal, Inter would be super,” he told La Tercera.
“I really like him as a player. He likes to score and run across the pitch. He’s a player who gives a lot on the field and fights for every ball. I hope it’s true that he’s coming.
“He’ll give a lot in every sense, as a player and a leader. With Arturo, we’d be on the same level as Juventus.
“I can assure you that we’d be fighting for the Scudetto, and I hope we can play an important role in the Champions League too.
“If I could say something to Vidal, I’d say to be like [countryman] Ivan Zamorano. Inter fans really appreciate players who give everything on the field.
“Vidal’s a warrior, so I have no doubt that he’ll succeed.”
The ex-Italy international was then asked about a possible midfield pairing of the Chilean and Radja Nainggolan.
“Imagine that! They’re two great players with great energy,” he concluded.
