Inter target Luka Modric reportedly tells Real Madrid he wants to leave the European champions.
The Croatia captain, now back in the Spanish capital following his summer break, has been heavily linked with a move to San Siro in the last week.
He was due to report for pre-season training with Julen Lopetegui’s team yesterday, but did not show up.
And although the new Bernabeu Coach insists the 32-year-old will return to training on 8 August, Gazzetta dello Sport claims Modric has informed the club of his desire to leave.
Inter are looking to make a signing to rival that of Cristiano Ronaldo’s switch from Madrid to Juventus.
And they are growing increasingly confident of landing Modric, whose agents have been in contact with the Nerazzurri.
According to the Italian daily, Inter are ready to offer the playmaker a four-year contract on wages of around €10m-a-year.
