Mateo Kovacic’s switch to Chelsea has seemingly freed Tiemoue Bakayoko to join Milan.
According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are only ‘a few details’ away from bringing in Bakayoko, with Chelsea securing his replacement in the form of Kovacic from Real Madrid.
The website explains a season-long loan with a €30-35m option to buy is in the offing, while the Rossoneri are ‘confident’ that Chelsea will agree to subsiding part of the Frenchman’s €6.5m salary.
Directors Leonardo and Paolo Maldini would also be working around the clock to push the deal through, having held a meeting on Wednesday evening.
