Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus forced Madrid into changing their Twitter header photo, but the club chose to go with Gareth Bale, Benzema, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Toni Kroos as opposed to the long-serving Modric.

AS reports the Croatian’s absence ‘triggers alarm after the rumours of a departure to Inter’, although he did model Los Blancos’ new third kit in an earlier Instagram story.

The 32-year-old returned to training on Wednesday, but the newspaper warns he is seeking talks with Merengues chiefs, having received ‘an important offer’ from the Nerazzurri.
