Joao Pedro will miss Cagliari’s first three Serie A games of the season after his doping-ban appeal was rejected.
Joao Pedro was given a six-month ban in May for failing two drug tests last season, although he had already served three months of his suspension by then.
As a result of the National Anti-Doping Court’s decision, the Brazilian forward will not be available for selection in official competitions until September 16.
Consequently, he will miss the Sardinians’ matches against Empoli, Sassuolo and Atalanta, as well as a Coppa Italia tie with Palermo.
