Reports in both Spain and Italy state Real Madrid are desperate to keep Inter target Luka Modric, so will offer him a huge new contract.

The Nerazzurri have a deal with the Croatian midfielder, but are waiting to see if Los Merengues will stick to a gentleman’s agreement to allow him to leave.

So far the Spanish giants have insisted that the only way they’ll allow a transfer is if someone pays the €750m release clause.

Today Marca is reporting that Madrid are ready to offer Modric a new contract to convince him to stay, significantly bumping up his current salary of €6.5m per season.

Italian outlet SportMediaset agrees, stating that the midfielder is being offered €13m per season to stay at the Bernabeu.

That would exceed the reported €10m which is on the table from the Beneamata, an offer which also includes an understanding that Modric will get a big contract with Jiangsu Suning when he leaves Italy.
