Higuain's Milan debut in Madrid

Gonzalo Higuain is due to make his Milan debut tonight, starting in the Trofeo Santiago Bernabeu friendly against Real Madrid.

The match kicks off in Madrid at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT) and is the final pre-season test for both sides.

Real Madrid are already seeking top form, as they face Atletico Madrid in Tallinn for the European Super Cup on August 15, whereas the Rossoneri’s Serie A opener is on August 19 against Genoa.

Ex-Juventus striker Higuain will make his debut in a Milan jersey and is expected to start tonight with Suso and Fabio Borini.

Manuel Locatelli had originally been meant to take part, but has broken away from the rest of the squad after a €12m plus bonuses deal was struck with Sassuolo.

Mateo Musacchio is the favourite to start in defence, as Mattia Caldara is suspended against Genoa and Coach Gennaro Gattuso wants to test his starting XI.

Pepe Reina, Ivan Strinic and Ignazio Abate are out injured, with Riccardo Montolivo and Andre Silva (on the verge of his move to Sevilla) also absent.

Real Madrid signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea and should give him a few minutes to get settled in the second half, but Keylor Navas will start the game.

Inter transfer target Luka Modric won’t even be on the bench, as he only just started training following Croatia’s run to the 2018 World Cup Final.

Casemiro, Marcelo and Raphael Varane are also unlikely to take part.
