Darwin Machis scored a stunning volley from a difficult angle into the far post, giving Christian Puggioni no chance.

Antonin Barak’s scorcher stung Puggioni’s gloves and Kevin Lasagna failed to get the tap-in, but Serie B outfit Benevento had several great chances, rattling the woodwork with Massimo Coda and Nicolas Viola.

Rodrigo De Paul wasted the opportunity to double Udinese’s lead and Viola eventually equalised for Benevento, pouncing on a defensive error.

Benevento had the better chances as the game wore on, with Nicolas denying Coda, Molla Wague and Filippo Bandinelli, while Piazzato’s header went inches wide.

The Third Round tie was all even after 90 minutes and went to extra time, where Benevento took a deserved lead as Tello tapped in an inspired Viola assist.
