Mario Balotelli turns 28 today, but is an outcast at Nice after President Jean-Pierre Rivere rejected the Olympique Marseille bid.
The Italy international celebrates his birthday with the future very much up in the air.
He did not take part in last night’s Ligue 1 opener, a 1-0 home defeat to Reims, and Coach Patrick Vieira confirmed Balo “wants to leave.”
However, a move to Marseille broke down when he attended their training centre to have a medical last month.
“I have no news from Marseille,” Nice President Rivere told Canal Plus.
“They made an offer… I will reveal the figures later on, that way people will perhaps understand why I could not agree to those terms.”
A return to Serie A remains an option, with Napoli and Parma the most interested.
SuperMario would be available for around €10m, but has very high wage demands.
