Roma have officially signed Steven Nzonzi from Sevilla for €26.65m plus €4m bonuses, with a contract to June 2022. "I always want to improve."
The 29-year-old was at the Villa Stuart clinic today for a battery of tests after the two clubs agreed terms last night.
A statement from the Giallorossi confirmed the cost of the operation was €26.65m plus €4m in performance-related bonuses.
He has put pen to paper on a contract to June 2022.
Nzonzi is a France international who was in the 2018 World Cup winning squad.
His previous clubs include Amiens, Blackburn and Stoke City, while he had been at Sevilla since 2015.
The player will wear Roma jersey Number 42.
“I am very happy and satisfied to be a Roma player,” he told the club website.
“I always want to improve, the age doesn’t matter, but rather giving your best. So I hope to give my contribution to the club on every level, including experience.”
Director of sport Monchi welcomed the new arrival to the Stadio Olimpico.
“Steven is a footballer with a mix of physical and technical qualities that we think will really add to the players that we already have here.
“With his arrival, we have even more quality and competition in midfield.”
The presentation clip on Twitter mocked the recent Malcom turnaround to join Barcelona at the last minute. "We weren't taking any chances with this one."
