Reports are growing rapidly that Milan are in advanced talks with Genoa for Diego Laxalt, beating Zenit to the Uruguay international.
The 25-year-old can play as a left-back, left wing-back or on the left side of a trident attack.
He made it clear that he wanted to move on from Genoa this summer and had an impressive World Cup campaign with his country.
Zenit St Petersburg have so far failed to clinch a deal, despite negotiations dragging on for weeks, and Milan have now intercepted.
Multiple sources including Sportitalia now claim the Rossoneri are getting closer to an agreement for around €15m.
They already have a strong rapport with Genoa and that could well prove decisive, because the Grifone still owe Milan €11m for Gianluca Lapadula.
The centre-forward was signed a year ago for a €2m loan with obligation to buy for another €11m.
Milan also still own Andrea Bertolacci, who spent last term on loan at Genoa and is eager to return.
Laxalt contributed four goals and three assists in 34 competitive appearances for the Rossoblu last season.
