Milan announced that Ivan Strinic must halt at least temporarily sporting activity after he was diagnosed with a heart condition.

The 31-year-old Croatia international full-back arrived as a free agent, having barely featured over the last six months at Sampdoria.

He nonetheless featured heavily for Croatia at the 2018 World Cup, all the way to the Final.

A statement released by the Rossoneri today confirmed Strinic has been diagnosed with “an initial hypertrophy of the cardiac muscle, which merits further investigation after a period of rest.

“For this reason, the player must temporarily suspend sporting activity until the tests have been completed.”

There were signs something was amiss with Strinic, as he didn't take part in any pre-season friendlies and the club rushed to purchase Diego Laxalt from Genoa in his role on transfer deadline day.
