In a strange twist of fate, ex-Lazio striker Djibril Cisse is back in Italy for a Vicenza side that will be playing in Serie D.
Now 37, the man with nine goals in 41 senior caps for France intends to continue his career in the Peninsula.
He had a brief stay at Lazio in 2011-12 and went on to QPR, Al Gharafa, Kuban Krasnodar, Saint-Pierroise and Yverdon-Sport.
Cisse announced he had signed for new club AC Vicenza 1902, who were founded this summer after the previous iteration of Vicenza went bankrupt.
Because of that, it is likely they’ll be registered to play in Serie D this season – the amateur division – rather than Serie C/Lega Pro.
