The 39-year-old shot-stopper was knocked out cold for a few moments during Juve’s 3-2 win at the Stadio Bentegodi on Saturday.

During the commotion, caused by a collision with Ronaldo, Juventus were awarded a goal using goal-line technology, then it was disallowed a few minutes later via VAR.

Sorrentino was stretchered off and only released from hospital this morning with a fractured nose, whiplash and bruised shoulder.

He tried to laugh it off with a post on Twitter and Instagram, but his partner Sara Ruggeri was not so forgiving.

“I tried for hours to keep quiet and focus on what was important, in other words my family,” she wrote in a private post on Instagram.

“However, if champions want to be called champions, they must first of all be HUMAN BEINGS! I’m sorry, but I cannot admire this champion!

“I can admire real men, like my other half who was lying there unconscious and Tomovic trying everything possible to help him!

“Thank you to those who have heart, humanity, dignity and principles! Shame on those who insult, criticise, celebrate or even worse observe and then leave!”

Paulo Dybala has already apologised on social media when it was pointed out to him that he and Giorgio Chiellini were celebrating the Juventus goal – later disallowed – while Sorrentino was prone on the ground.

Ronaldo walked over to see what was happening, then appeared to give the medics room to work.
