The Giallorossi squeezed past Toro in the final minute thanks to a magnificent Edin Dzeko volley, set up by substitute Justin Kluivert.

“My team always has an attacking approach, we just need to improve both going forward and defending,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did better at the back than the front, where we weren’t very sharp today. Everyone needs to improve and step up their game.

“I have many new players who just arrived and need time to adapt, such as Javier Pastore. He can be a trequartista or a midfielder in my system, it changes little, and he brings a lot of quality to the side.”

Di Francesco was asked if Roma were stronger this season than the last, despite losing Alisson Becker and Radja Nainggolan.

“I hope that we can become stronger, but that sort of chatter is worth nothing at this point. We sold two important players, but they were replaced.

“Apart from one slight uncertainty, Robin Olsen did very well and was comfortable on the ball.”
