Former Inter and Roma defender Walter Samuel has taken a coaching role with the Argentinian national team.

The defender spent most of his career in Serie A, winning the Scudetto with Roma in the 2000-01 season.

After a brief spell at Real Madrid he later joined Inter, five Scudetti, three Coppe Italia and the 2010 Champions League.

He made 236 appearances for the Nerazzurri before leaving to join FC Basel in 2014.

He retired at the age of 38, and today the Argentinian Federation has confirmed that he’ll join Lionel Scaroni’s coaching staff on the national team.
