There are differing reports in Italy and France over the status of Olympique Marseille’s negotiations with Roma for Kevin Strootman.

While Il Romanista claims the offer of €25m plus €4m in bonuses has been accepted by both player and club, other sources have different versions of events.

Sky Sport Italia, RMC Sport and Il Tempo maintain Strootman is eager to make the switch, but Roma are demanding at least €25m plus bonuses and so far the Marseille proposal is closer to €22-23m.

Calciomercato.com claim the club is happy to sell, but the 28-year-old midfielder isn’t sure whether to accept.

Matters could come to a head this afternoon when Roma unveil the squad list for Monday’s game against Atalanta, as Strootman’s absence would spark further speculation of an imminent transfer.

The Dutchman has been at the Olimpico since 2013, but missed practically two years through repeated knee injuries from 2014-2016.

Strootman would be allowed to leave, as Roma already have numerous options in midfield, including Steven Nzonzi, Bryan Cristante, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Ante Coric.
