Fabio Quagliarella wouldn’t say the stunning back-heel flick against Napoli was his best goal. “It’s in the top three…”
The 35-year-old striker has a lot of scorchers to his name over the years, but this was special, helping Sampdoria secure a 3-0 victory over his hometown club.
“When I saw the cross coming in, I had a fraction of a second to decide,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I thought if I go with the inside of the boot, I’m never getting that on target, so I had to go for the heel and hope for the best. It went well in the end.
“Is it my best ever goal? No… it’s in the top three, but I scored from midfield a couple of times, so there are others to choose from.
“It was a great performance, I’m just sad that I always end up scoring beautiful goals against my Napoli. They know I’m cheering them on, though.”
