Former Inter Coach Jose Mourinho has accepted a one year suspended prison sentence for tax evasion while at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese was charged with two counts of failing to pay the correct tax on his image rights in 2011 and 2012, which amounted to €3.3m.

It has been a common issue in La Liga, with Lionel Messi, Fabio Coentrao and Cristiano Ronaldo all sanctioned for improper tax payments.

However, first time offenders sentence to under two years don’t serve any prison time, and El Mundo now report Mourinho has accepted a one year suspended sentence and the case has been closed.

Mourinho moved to Real Madrid after winning the treble with Inter in 2009-10, and is currently manager of Manchester United.
