The Slovakian international was hugely impressive in his first season with the Nerazzurri, and was linked with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona.

According to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport, the club met with the defender’s agent, Karol Csonto, to discuss a new contract.

However, the first offer of €2.5m per season – around double what Skriniar earns now – was rejected by the agent, who wants at least €3m.

Csonto believes his client could easily earn that money in the Premier League, with a €65m offer from Manchester United rejected in the summer.

Skriniar’s renewal is not a priority though, as his contract runs until 2022 and there’s still plenty of time to come to an agreement.
