Former Torino defender Gabriele Cioffi has been named the new boss of fourth-tier English side Crawley Town.

Cioffi made almost 400 appearances for predominantly Serie B sides, although he spent the 2006-07 campaign with Torino in the top flight, and becomes the second Italian appointment by an English club this season after Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea.

“We wanted a head Coach with passion, dedication and someone who is prepared to work hard to improve our existing squad,” director of football Selim Gaygusuz told the club’s official website.
