Sampdoria director of sport Carlo Osti said veteran striker Fabio Quagliarella is “the kind of player who is timeless. He’s immortal.”
The Blucerchiati caused a big upset by thrashing Napoli 3-0, including a remarkable back-heel flick goal from Quagliarella.
“Fabio is a great champion the kind of player who is timeless,” Osti told Sky Sport Italia.
“He is immortal. We are very happy to have him at Samp and hope he can stay with us as long as possible.
“After the defeat to Udinese, it was important for us to understand how we’d do against a big side like Napoli. We put in the perfect performance, it all went well, but we know there’s a long way to go this season.
“We need to improve upon last term, especially our away form. That means the trip to Frosinone will be very important to test ourselves.”
