Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri never got to say goodbye to the Napoli players and reveals the one person who could get him to stop smoking.

The Coach gave a long interview with Il Mattino newspaper and some intriguing details emerged about his new life in London.

“I always liked it when they called me the ‘Commander’ in Naples, as it made me feel like a representative of the city. It also weighed on me, because I knew what the people of Naples wanted from me.

“I was able to have a walk in London after the Arsenal game, but then I ran into a bunch of Napoli supporters and they wouldn’t let me move a step! It was very pleasing, as it meant they haven’t forgotten me.”

Sarri has hit the headlines in England for his prolific chain-smoking, although there is only one person who could get him to quit.

“When my father learned I had this offer, he told me to go to London, that it was the right thing to do. He did ask me to stop smoking at least while I’m here.

“He is the only one who for five minutes can make me wobble in my convictions…”

Sarri said in this interview that he was watching television with a collaborator of the club, discussing whether to remain or not, when he saw Carlo Ancelotti presented as the new Napoli Coach.

“It all happened so quickly, I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to the players. I want to do it now and say: ‘You are extraordinary lads. Continue like this, because you can do it and achieve that dream we only glanced.’”
