Javier Zanetti claims Inter’s return to the Champions League this season sees them ‘back where they belong’.

Inter ended a eight-year absence from the Champions League, courtesy of their fourth-place finish in Serie A last season, and Zanetti believes his club have what it takes to stay there.

“We were drawn in a very tough group, but we have the enthusiasm and conviction that we can compete with everyone in it,” he said at the inaugural Festival dello Sport in Milan.

“I’m proud to participate in this event, just as I’m proud to have been part of the Inter team who won the Treble.

“They were a team who wrote an important page of our history. Now we’re back in the Champions League again after several years. We’re back where we belong.

“Now we’ll focus on the match against Parma on Saturday afternoon and then the many more commitments that await us.”
