The mayor of Naples responds to Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis’ interest in Hajduk Split - “he’d be better off buying a few more players”.
The Partenopei owner claimed yesterday that he’d like to buy the Croatian club, having already refounded Bari this summer.
De Laurentiis has a difficult relationship with the city council, with an ongoing and increasingly bitter dispute over the Stadio San Paolo, and the mayor gave short shrift to the idea of buying a new team.
“He’d be better of buying a few more players…” Luigi De Magistris told ANSA.
De Laurentiis has threatened to move Napoli’s Champions League games to Bari, and has repeatedly described the San Paolo as “a toilet”.
