Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta tells Napoli what to expect at Red Star tonight - “the Marakana becomes a team”.
The Partenopei make their Champions League bow in Belgrade this evening in a sold-out stadium, and a febrile atmosphere awaits Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
“I remember the policemen, who gave us dirty looks and moved their batons in an intimidating way,” Costacurta, who played at the Marakana in 1988 recalled in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“They didn’t do anything wrong, but the feeling remains inside me. During the celebrations I was bitten by a dog.
“There’s something different in that stadium, a particular heat that you notice right from the warm-up.
“I told my teammates that the Marakana becomes like a team, and I think that’s exactly how it is.”
