Monza President Nicola Colombo has confirmed that he will sell 95 percent of the club to former Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi.

Berlusconi is set to buy as much as 95 percent of the Serie C side from Colombo, whose family interestingly owned Milan before the 81-year-old.

“We agreed that 95% of the shares would go to new stakeholders and 5% would remain mine,” he told Il Giorno.

“Why 95% and not 70% as previously mentioned? I’d still have had the minority of the shares, so for me between five and 30% changes very little.

“We’ve provided all the data. At this point, the negotiations are now in the hands of Berlusconi.

“I want to play an active role for Monza this season because they’re a strong team and one we’ve built with passion and sacrifice in recent years.

“They also showed they could be top dogs in this League with their win against FeralpiSalo on Saturday.

“After that the new owners can strengthen us further, although we’re very competitive as it stands.

“Galliani followed the game via streaming. As soon as it ended, he called me to congratulate me: he was very satisfied.”
