Cagliari Coach Rolando Maran concedes Parma’s counter-attacks, particularly from Gervinho, made the difference.

The game was decided by Roberto Inglese and a remarkable Gervinho coast-to-coast move at the Stadio Tardini.

“Let’s just say that over the course of the game we struggled with the heat, as it was our first afternoon game of the season,” Maran told Sky Sport Italia.

It was unusually hot in Parma for late September, around 29 degrees Centigrade and very humid.

“We passed around well in the first half, but were lacking belief and determination in the final third. We conceded a goal too cheaply and after 2-0 they controlled the game. It’s a pity, as we had started well.

“Gervinho was pretty unstoppable. We knew this was a danger against Parma, but we still should’ve been more careful. In the second half, we got stretched out and allowed far too many counter-attacks.”
