Genoa are reportedly considering former Crotone boss Davide Nicola if Davide Ballardini struggles in his next three games.

According to Secolo XIX, Genoa President Enrico Preziosi was ‘visibly annoyed’ with his club’s 4-1 defeat to Lazio on Sunday.

The result came just three weeks after the Rossoblu conceded five goals at Sassuolo, and the newspaper warns Ballardini’s position is under threat.

Replacing him could be Nicola, who has been out of work since leaving Crotone midway through last season and was previously linked with the role.

However, the publication expects Ballardini to be given three more games against Chievo, Frosinone and Parma to improve the Grifone’s fortunes, ‘above all away from home’.
