“It is a derby and therefore a separate game from the rest of the season,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia and Lazio Style Channel.

“Winning would be important for our self-esteem and our standing, so we want to continue the positive streak.

“I put in effort and dedication, always trying to ensure I am ready and with my feet firmly on the ground. We are all leaders in this team, those who play or don’t play, as we all win and lose together.

“It’s a pleasure to play here and we try to give what we can for the team. We must step on to the field with the confidence to face an important match for the city and the table.

“We all want to win, just like our friends, and it’ll be a fundamental game. Roma are strong, they reached the Champions League semi-final last season and have a quality squad.

“I know (former Sassuolo Coach Eusebio) Di Francesco very well and he will certainly have prepared this match in every minute detail, just like we did.

“There are no favourites in the Derby della Capitale. We need determination, humility and desire to win under pressure.”
