“I would like to have more of a stable starting XI in mind, but unfortunately I’ve never been able to have all the players at my disposal simultaneously,” confessed the Coach in his Press conference.

The Rossoblu fired blanks in all but one of their six rounds so far, the 2-0 victory over Roma, but were swept aside comfortably by Juventus midweek.

“I hope that soon I’ll have more of a choice in my line-up and that’s when we can start to have some fun. In a way, the misfortune turned into a blessing, because I discovered some very interesting young players.

“I made my choices against Juventus dictated by fitness levels and not to rest players for Udinese. It was a big risk to use Federico Santander even for 20 minutes, because against Roma he asked to be taken off and was at risk of a thigh strain.

“Andrea Poli is out, but Mattias Svanberg is available. Blerim Dzemaili needs to play in order to find his form. Sebastien De Maio will start, seeing as he rested against Juventus, but Danilo is someone I cannot do without. The third defender will be either Arturo Calabresi or Giancarlo Gonzalez.”

Godfred Donsah, Rodrigo Palacio and Filip Helander also miss out, while Erick Pulgar is available again after his three-match ban was reduced to two on appeal.

“He apologised to everyone after the red card against Genoa and realised he got it very wrong. I haven’t decided yet whether he’ll start.

“Udinese have very impressive players like Rodrigo De Paul, Kevin Lasagna, Seko Fofana, Antonin Barak and Rolando Mandragora. I expect them to focus on the counter-attack, but they must also worry about facing Bologna.”

Bologna squad for Udinese: Da Costa, Santurro, Skorupski; Calabresi, Danilo, De Maio, Dijks, Gonzalez, Mbaye, Paz; Dzemaili, Krejci, Mattiello, Nagy, Pulgar, Svanberg, Valencia; Destro, Falcinelli, Okwonkwo, Orsolini, Santander
