The Neroverdi would’ve leapfrogged Napoli to go clear in second place with a victory, but lost their perfect home record.

“It hurts because we lost, but nothing more. We ran into a Milan side in good shape with strong players, but there are also some regrets, as we could’ve taken the lead in a few situations and didn’t,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“I compliment my players. Perhaps some paid a little for the importance of the game and showed a lack of experience in dealing with setbacks.

“We are just at the start of the season, so mis-reading a game can happen. The objective is to get points and we believe it is easier to achieve that via good football. We have a lot of young and talented players, so we don’t know how far we can go, but there will inevitably be setbacks like this as part of the growth process.

“Milan play out from the back against everyone. We could’ve sat back more and suffered less, but we wanted to take the game to them even if that meant a few risks. To be honest, we were a little too frenetic and tried to force the pass, for example with Franck Kessie’s goal, and it left us open to the counter.”
