Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco has assured Patrik Schick that the club will ‘wait’ for him. “Some players need longer than others…”
A lack of form and fitness has limited Schick to just three goals for Roma since his club-record transfer from Sampdoria last year, but Eusebio Di Francesco urged the striker to look at Lorenzo Pellegrini, who ‘wasn’t good enough a week ago’.
“Our test bench is every day. We must never stop showing our growth,” he said at a Press conference.
“It’s an important test against a healthy team who have deserved more for how they play and what they’ve shown.
“They have a set of data which suggests they’re an important team, so we must congratulate Andreazzoli.
“They attack well and their attackers play in sync with their playmaker. They’re good at pressing high.
“Maybe they suffer a bit out wide, but they’re organised. We’ve taken the right measures to stop them but also attack them because we have to go there to take the game.
“We must be good at approaching the match in the right way. Luca Pellegrini will play tomorrow. Kolarov won’t be called up. He couldn’t even walk today.
“We must thank him for his availability. Manolas will start, but I have many doubts about the other positions.
“Lorenzo [Pellegrini] and Nzonzi will be in the middle. De Rossi trained fully, so I think he’ll play, maybe from the beginning.
“Coric has important qualities. I’ve used 23 players and given chances to everyone, so he’ll have one sooner or later.
“Dzeko will definitely play, then we’ll see who plays out wide. Karsdorp’s just come back from a big injury, so everyone will get their chance.
“Schick has mixed good things with things that haven’t been as good. I always see international breaks as positive things, which let players recover their physical and mental energies.
“Pellegrini wasn’t good enough for Roma a week ago, but today we have to renew his contract…
“We’ll go back to the concept of balance and we’ll wait for him because sometimes there are players who need longer than others and when they start they don’t stop.
“We’ll wait for Patrik because he has important characteristics.”
