Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek will become the first player since Christian Vieri to score in the opening seven Serie A games if he finds the back of the net against Parma.

The Polish forward has been in sensational form for the Grifone, and already has eight Serie A goals to his name, despite playing only six matches.

He also struck four times against Lecce in the Coppa Italia, meaning the 23-year-old has 12 goals in seven games after signing from Cracovia.

If he scores against Parma today, he’ll be the first player to score in seven Serie A on the spin since Christian Vieri for Inter in 2002-03. The Italian went on to get 24 goals in 23 league matches that season.

Piatek still has some way to go to match Gabriel Batistuta’s record, with the Fiorentina striker scoring in the first 11 games of the season back in 1994-95.
